April 3rd 2022 saw the first ever charity marathon by Domus Recruitment as a team and what a day it was!
Ready…
Now it’s no secret that as part of Domus’ company culture, most quarterly activities/team -building events are based around a meal followed by one too many cocktails!
So, to say that running has never really been incorporated in these before, would be an understatement.
All participants apart from 1 were pretty new to running, particularly running such long distance. So, when we were told that the Domus HQ boys were running a marathon it came as a bit of a shock!
With that being said, the total dedication and enthusiasm shown in their training throughout the build up to the marathon was second to none.
Set…
So, running the marathon was one thing…it was then decided by many of the boys that they really wanted to run this in in aid of their chosen charities. With this, came an extra push as there was no backing out now!
It was really inspirational to see the constant drive for donations from each of them and even now, the final donations are still rolling in:
Jalees – Derian House Children’s Hospice – running in honour of his brother Zack. Zack passed away on Christmas Day 2018 at the age of 21. Derian House was a place Zack absolutely loved visiting and made many happy memories there, so this charity was really important to him. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/jalees-siddiq
George, Ciaran, Tom & Josh – Sam’s Gift – running in honour of Sam. Sam’s Gift helps young cancer patients through the difficult times that may lie ahead of them. Sam’s Gift aims to give something positive, at a time when it is needed most. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/samsgiftmanchestermarathon?utm_source=sms&utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=samsgiftmanchestermarathon&utm_campaign=pfp-sms&utm_term=09eea753936f4cefaa1f9c29f4c061c0
Tom – Macmillan Cancer – Macmillan support people at a time in their lives when they most need it. Donations to Macmillan go a long way and they make sure that any money raised actually reaches the people suffering with cancer. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/thomas-brandrick8
